Portfolio: Commercial / Retail: Paymon Fine Rug Imports (2007)

Built in the 1940s as a tire dealership, this fine commercial showroom on William Street included a series of single story garage bays along Prince Edward Street which had been closed in over the years to accommodate a variety of retail uses. These areas were dim and cramped and not at all a good environment for the display of fabulous carpets. In addition, the second floor of the main showroom had never been finished out, having always been used for storage. With original framing visible, and walls of windows facing the corner and park across the street, the owner was determined to add this space to his showroom and create open, diagonal views into the lower level bays.
